December 14 2022/  8:00  PM

The Chosen Comedy Festival. The star-studded event is the brainchild of Stand Up NY comedy club owner Dani Zoldan, conceived along with comedians Elon Gold and Modi Rosenfeld. Though it is definitely an homage to classic Catskills comedy, there is nothing stale about it. Billed as the first-ever festival of its kind, judging by the tremendous reception, it will most certainly not be the last.

“Jewish comedians have been such a part of the culture, not only for Jews but for everybody,” Elon said. “We need this festival; we need to celebrate and do Jewish comedy like this, and it’s just the start. We’re going to do them all over the world from Miami to Tel Aviv and annually.”

With a wide range of styles and Jewish affiliations represented, the evening, the comic material covers everything from the religious to the risqué —and everything in between. From popular seasoned performers to newer up-and-coming talents, the diverse group proudly showcases their Israeli, Jewish and “Jewish” backgrounds.

Everyone loves to laugh, it's just part of what makes humans human. So if you're in the market for some good old fashioned comedy then you couldn't have come to a better place.

Comedy has been a part of society for thousands of years, with it's earliest recorded beginnings dating back to 425 BC with a Greek playwright known as Aristophanes who was responsible for writing forty comedies, of which eleven have survived and actually continue to be performed to this day. While this is some of the earliest known comedic

work, it is likely that comedy has been around even longer than that, and has it's earliest roots much further back than that.
